Beach Smarts for Life is a program to introduce Chinese international students to Australian surf lifesaving and beach culture

The program focuses on water safety awareness and helps dispel myths to make the beach a relaxed, comfortable, and safe place for students to enjoy.

The Beach Smarts program consists of three consecutive Saturday training sessions. Students participate in a combination of theoretical and practical activities and mirror a ‘day in the life’ of a life saver. Students will learn basic first aid and CPR techniques as well as general water safety awareness.

The program will be run over three weekends: Saturday 27 November, Saturday 4 December and Saturday 11 December.

The Beach Smarts program is managed by Benefactum Pty Ltd with assistance from the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations, and delivered through partnerships with Royal Lifesaving Society Queensland, Surf Lifesaving Queensland, Liquid Animation (App and online resources development), and Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre. The program is promoted through Australia China Youth Association and affiliated universities in Queensland.
